Tell us about yourself! What should people know about you?
My name is Ashley K. I am an R&B singer from Los Angeles, California. I started singing in church and haven’t stopped since. Singing is my passion. I love to make music that relates and connect with people.
How long have you been making music and what or who inspired you to do so?
I’ve been making music for three years. Honestly, God is the one who put the gift in me to be inspired to sing and make music. Also, Queen Naija is one of my biggest inspirations as well.
We are aware not everyone makes music the same. What is your creative process like?
My creative process is simple. I start with my emotions such as love, heartbreak, happiness, etc and then I hear a beat and begin writing. Whether it’s at home or the studio, I'll go over it a million times until I hear what I envisioned the song to be.
Is there any advice you would give to upcoming artists?
Put God first in everything that you do. Never give up even when it gets hard. Always believe in yourself. Stay dedicated and consistent.
Who would you say is the best artist of all time?
Whitney Houston! The Queen with incredible vocals is one of the most excellent musicians of all time. No one can deny her impeccable vocals and the ability to carry a song in different forms. I'd also say Beyoncé, Chris Brown, NeYo, and Usher.
