We have been blessed with the opportunity to work with Free P! Here is our interview with them where we got to know them better!
Tell us about yourself! What should people know about you?
People call me Free P. I was born in Killeen, Texas but was raised in Clarksville, Tennessee. I’ve lived in Los Angeles since 2016 but it was an accident. I had a friend ask me to come out and help him finish an album, so I booked a round trip flight for ten days. The day I was suppose to leave, I decided to stay. I ended up finding a way to sustain myself. I’m glad I did that.
How long have you been making music and what or who inspired you to do so?
I’ve been making music for about fifteen years now. I started making beats at the age of fourteen after one of my best friends told me to download FL Studio. Once I got a better understanding of how to make beats, I started producing for my friends. As a producer, I made a name for myself in Tennessee working with a lot of different talent. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles I started to release my own music.
We are aware not everyone makes music the same. What is your creative process like?
I have so many different ways in which I create. I’m a producer first, so naturally I like to make the beat and come up with the words based on what I'm feeling from the flow. I like to collaborate with other producers too, whether I'm working on the beat or just writing to someone else’s production.
Is there any advice you would give to upcoming artists?
Trust your vision, be patient with yourself and remain genuine. Not everyone is going to see what you see, but don’t let that discourage you from creating and sharing your art. Fall in love with the routine you create for yourself so you can sustain a healthy mindset to continuously create the art that inspires you.
Who would you say is the best artist of all time?
Michael Jackson. The way he put everything together and transcended the art of music and entertainment is top tier. From the music to the visuals to the performance, he was really the greatest to ever do it. I rock with bro for sure.
