We have been blessed with the opportunity to work with Ju$t Tha Realne$$! Here is our interview with them where we got to know them better!
Tell us about yourself! What should people know about you?
I'm Jermaine "Ju$t Tha Realne$$" Ramos, born in the Lower East Side in New York City and raised in Queensbridge Projects. My father was a DJ. I have an Uncle that played in a salsa band back in the day and an older brother who is also a Hip-Hop Artist. I grew up around music. Outside of music, I really enjoy watching WWE with my family and just spending time with them. About a year ago I moved to California to pursue a career in music and film.
How long have you been making music and what or who inspired you to do so?
I've been making music for 23 years. I wrote my first song when I was 18 years old. It started from watching my older brother make mixtapes. I would listen to the cassette tapes he would bring home watching him make music. I became deeply inspired with hip hop, ever since I saw LL Cool J on TV in the "I'm Bad" video around 1988.
We are aware not everyone makes music the same. What is your creative process like?
I approach every song differently because I don't only rap about myself, I rap about everything. I may have a conversation with someone or watch a documentary or just look at the world and write about the pain in it.
Is there any advice you would give to upcoming artists?
Exercise your bars and always practice writing. Respect your humble beginnings and learn how to live in the bottom. Stop saying you're the best without the accolades. Never think you're bigger than the music because it's not about what music can do for you! It's about what you can do for music. Be kind to people and respect everyone from all walks of life.
Who would you say are the best artists of all time?
Nas, Tupac, and Bob Marley because They taught me to love reading and learning about your heritage. They taught me how music can change people's hearts and minds. To always stand on business no matter what. Most of all never think I'm bigger than the music. I've learned that and still learning from many iconic artists.
