We have been blessed with the opportunity to work with W33DZ! Here is our interview with them where we got to know them better!
Tell us about yourself! What should people know about you?
W33DZ is the name. I grew up in South Oxnard, California. The block I'm from is called Cuesta Del Mar which is known for gangs and violence. I try to deliver a positive message through my music. I give people an insight on what it's like coming from this type of environment. I'm passionate and dedicated to everything I do. I'm all about giving back to the community and helping spread positivity.
How long have you been making music and what or who inspired you to do so?
I started making music in 2021, but I have been freestyle rapping since I was in high-school. I have always had a thing for music. My inspiration was my brother and the Wu Tang Clan. My brother was the one who motivated me to rap because I would hear him freestyle rap and wanted to do the same. Once I heard the Wu Tang Clan and the message they were delivering through their music, it inspired me. It gave me the motivation to try and freestyle rap lyrics about my life and struggles I was going through.
We are aware not everyone makes music the same. What is your creative process like?
I like to find a beat that can make me nod my head and a beat that I can feel in my soul. Once I find a beat that I vibe to, I listen to it over and over again until I can hear the beat talk to me. It tells me what type of lyrics will fit best on the beat. Once I figure out the type of song it's gonna be, I think of my own struggles and write something that everyone can relate to.
Is there any advice you would give to upcoming artists?
Never give up. Keep chasing your dream. No matter what anyone tells you keep on doing what you like to do. Don't let anyone bring you down or talk down on you. You have to be your biggest fan in order for others to be a fan of your music. Haters make you famous. Do you and keep grinding.
Who would you say is the best artist of all time?
I'd say Tupac Shakur is the best artist for several reasons:
Lyrical Depth: His lyrics tackled complex themes like social injustice, poverty, and personal struggle, resonating deeply with many listeners.
Versatility: Tupac's music spans various genres and styles, from raw, aggressive tracks to introspective, soulful ballads.
Influence: His impact on hip-hop and the culture is profound, influencing countless artists and shaping the direction of the genre.
Charismatic Persona: His presence both on and off the stage, along with his activism and outspoken nature, made him a compelling and an influential figure.
Emotional Connection: People were able to connect with the raw emotion and authenticity in his music, which continues to endure long after his passing.
Long Live 2Pac!
